Tzarina Katarin the Ice Queen of Kislev

I painted up Tzarina Katarin, hte Ice Queen of Kislev, for a painting competition on Warhammer-Empire. Spent about 5-6 hours on the whole model. Probably about two hours on the horse and the rest onthe rider. There is a fairly simple resculpting on this classic Elven Steed, I've just added a horse tail from another horse and then resculpted all the rest of the horse hair and the saddle cloth. I'm really happy with how it came out.

Something of everything

First is an update on the Classic Reiksguard Champion. I've changed the sash to White instead of Yellow, to contrast more with the armour.

I've also made a few changes on Rasha the Sorceress. I think both are obvious... I googled a little on serpents and found thatthe corallsnake hve a nice comouring.
Another rank and file for my Great Sword. A classic 4th edition Empire Hero with great sword.

The enemy within! I had these two old Chaos blokes lying around and really like the sculpts, so figured I could turn the into good guys. Don't know if they really came out that well with my colour scheme though.
And the obligatory group photo!

OOP Great Sword

So, the first 4th edition Great Sword has joined the ranks!
The paint job took about two hours. Enjoy!

Update on Great Sword Champion

Just an image of the Champion in the unit.

Rasha the sorcerer

Painted up an Amethyst wizardess. Got an urge to try out some noes painting techniques, like painting really thin clothing.  And as I had this model lying about...

This is Rasha. She is the new concubine of an old unnamed Marquis. He is unfortunately not present as he reasently took ill. He has been reported to having gotten quite pale, and sleeps all day.

I wasn't to pleased with the result even though I repainted the skirt and brah several times. But I must say the reslults looks better in the photos, just this once...

Wasn't too bothered with the snake so the paint job there is lacking a bit, didn't really have any clue on what kind of snake to paint, så ended up doing an booring Viper.

Halflings

A small update.

I had a couple of halflings standing on my shelf and figured they would be a treat to paint, and they sure was!
A shame there's only three of them, have some more halflings, like the commangroup from the same set, but nothing suitable for a deteachment.

Great Sword Champion

Small update with the finished Great Sword Champion (or whatever they are called these days.

Priming

Hello again.

I usually only show finished models here in the blogg, but for once I thought I should share a model primed.
My Classic reiksguard and Great Swords have mostly been primed using black spray paint and then drybrushed with white. This maked it very easy to see all the features on a model, as well as making it easy for light colours to stick to the model, and still maintaining dark shadows. A week ago I hear of a smarter way to achive this. Which is to spray paint with white over the black instead of drybrusing using a brush. In this way a source lightning can be achived if the spray paint is added from a specific angle.

Enought talk, here is my new Champion with base coat:
As the old sword was a little small, and the pistil very outdated, I shaped these for a new set from the General of the Empire plastic box. THe spray paint used was also very old and in an ill shape, which caused the paint to be a little grainy. There was also a slight wind where I sprayed the model, so it's a little more white on the right and a little to little from the top form my taste, but looks rather good otherwise in my oppinion.

A Full unit of Great Swords

Here is my last four Great Swords, finaly making the unit reach the minimum number.
Some close-ups: All of them together:

Marauder Reikguard with Halberd

Scanian Heavy Infantry

So I've got quite inspired to paint. the progress is much faster than with sculpting. As a result I've painted up a few more classical infantry men.
An attempt to add a Sky-Earth feeling have been given to the NMM.

And from behind:

So this might be my first finished row of Talabecland heavy infantry, have at least another ten minis to add i I should feel like it.
Please comment, I find it difficult to know how much to paint on them, and they are not varnished yet, as you may see, so there is still possibilities to add paint.

Demi-hydra

Was it Demigryphs? Must have miss-read... Anyway a prototype:
OOP Knight of the blazing suns riding an OOP Marauder Hydra.

Nothing is set in stone (nor glued). I'm not sure what rider to use, possbly a Knights panther. Will probably have to sculpt new legs for whatever rider it will be.

Anyone else who misses the rulebook where all kinds of monsters were awailable to in an Empire army?
Kind of got an urge to collect all Marauder monsters for a Demigryph horde...

NMM attempt 2

Non-Metallic-Metal

So, I've barely done anything this semester, since I'm writing my Master's thesis in Historical Archaeology. Not much time over for less fun stuff then, heh!
Though I've made some sporadic sculpting, and as soon as the thesis in done, I'll upload more of the Green/Grey stuff thing.

Anyway, I couldn't resist making some attempts at NMM this morning instead of studying.
The models is really speed painted, took about an hour or so. So what ya thinkin'!?

I know the purple doesn't go that well with the blue of the metal, and there is quite may rough areas.
But something like this the armour on the knights might look:
